About this game
A story-driven pixel RPG about a boy, the Ghost Festival, and the names nobody calls anymore.
On the full moon of the seventh lunar month, eleven-year-old Ốc follows a rolling coin into the flooded basement of an old Saigon apartment block. The broken elevator opens. There is a button for every floor going down, and none going up.
Below lies a parking garage of the dead. A soaked boy who never dries. A parking ticket still waiting for its red motorbike. A night guard still walking his rounds. A kind woman who keeps the gate, and will not let a living child go any deeper.
HOW IT PLAYS
- Remember them, or scatter salt. Every ghost can be spared by learning who they were and calling their full name. Or throw salt and make them fade. The game remembers.
- Dodge to stay warm. Battles are bullet-hell turns inside an offering tray. Your life is the warmth of a burning incense stick.
- Ask, offer, call. Ask about their lives, offer the food they loved. Only a clear voice is heard: dodge a whole turn cleanly before you call.
- Look around. Names hide in ledgers, calendars, gravestones and car boots.
- Choices that carry. Who you saved, who you dissolved, and whose name you knew change what comes next.
