Indie Games VN - Why are we here?

We created Indie Games VN for one simple reason: our love for Vietnamese indie games. But love needs action. We wanted to turn that passion into a place to reflect, to tell stories, and to preserve the true spirit of indie.

Have you ever stumbled upon a Vietnamese game, played it, and thought: “Wow, this is amazing, why has no one heard of it?” That was the moment we realized that in Vietnam, indie games are still new, small, and often lost in the flood of noise out there. Some incredible games truly deserve recognition, yet quietly fade away before anyone even gets the chance to know their names.

That’s why Indie Games VN exists: to change that. We want to be a “filter,” highlighting the works that embody the true indie spirit. Independent, creative, and heartfelt. Here, we don’t just collect and showcase games; we share the stories behind each project, and the lessons developers have learned along the way, so that whether you’re a player or a creator, you can take something meaningful with you.

Our mission is to connect the Vietnamese indie game community, bring deserving projects closer to players both at home and abroad, and inspire those who dream of making their own games. Our goal is not about numbers, but about value. We want “Vietnamese indie games” to instantly evoke authenticity, uniqueness, and pride. Something that makes you feel proud to say: “This is a Vietnamese game.”

The journey won’t be easy, but it’s worth taking. And we’re here, walking it with you.

Since Indie Games VN began its journey, we have spent a lot of time analyzing the success and failure stories of Indie games around the world. From famous titles like Hollow Knight, No Man's Sky to small but inspiring projects, we have learned together from the experiences of international developers.

Now, when we have enough knowledge and experience from studying international case studies, we feel it's time to apply everything we've learned to look at our own home ground. Right here in Vietnam, there are many stories worth telling waiting to be discovered.

Are there developers who have stumbled, stood up, and found their own path? The answer is yes, and there are many.

There are games born from small rental rooms, there are ideas that have been nurtured for many years, and there are even painful failures that became stepping stones for later success.

Therefore, starting from today, Indie Games VN will shift direction to focus on analyzing case studies of Vietnamese Indie Games themselves. We want to tell real stories, from real developers, with real lessons that anyone making games can apply. Not just stopping at product introduction, we will interview Developers directly, listen to the stories they share, and then retell them through insightful and relatable articles. Because sometimes, experiences from places close to us are the most valuable and easily absorbed lessons.
